Les recherches sur les oiseaux d'Haïti ont été d'abord faites par des français du temps de la colonie et ensuite par des Américains dont Charles B. Cory, James Bond, Alexander Wetmore,  Charles A. Woods avec la collaboration de José A. Ottenwalder de la République Dominicaine.  Dans les soixante dix, l'ornithologiste Storrs Olson s'est penché sur les fossiles. 

Léonce Bonnefil Depuis 1999, J. R. Crouse, de l'Eglise méthodiste libre fait des relevés du Trou Caïman et de Fermathe et Paul Judex Edouarzin, professeur à l'Université Notre Dame d'Haïti en fait dans divers milieux humides.  Je te mets seulement des documents essentiels que tu peux trouver pour augmenter tes connaissances ou ceux qui traite de la faune aviaire du pays.  J'ai omis les nombreuses publications sur les descriptions des espèces endémiques et les fossiles.
